Western Australia farmers 'caught off guard' by early start to harvest, as hot, dry spring brings fast finish.
The headers are out and harvest has started, with some farmers in Western Australia reporting their earliest start to harvest ever.
Throughout the state, the dry spring combined with consecutive hot days has caused the crops to finish off fast.
For the Davy family, in Wellstead on the south coast, it's the earliest start they have ever seen.
Like many other farmers in WA, they are currently harvesting canola, and expecting to move onto barley later this week.
Patriarch Robert Davy says things kicked off on the 18th of October.
