​A morning with Australia's most ardent potato advocate, Doug Dagg, will have you convinced the phrase 'the humble spud' is the greatest misnomer of all.

As we approach a bumper New South Wales potato season, get to know the tatties worth staying in for.

Doug Dagg has spent 44 of his 84 years in potatoes.

"It's a long, long story," Mr Dagg says, mistily

It begins in the Kimberley where Mr Dagg was an ag scientist working for the CSIRO, before he migrated east to set up a commercial plantation in Lismore.
