Tasmania will be home to the country's first industry-wide benchmark for on-farm safety after the launch of the new AgCard training program yesterday.

The Tasmanian AgCard is a proud initiative of Primary Employers Tasmania. Funded by WorkCover Tasmania and supported by Safe Farming Tasmania, Wine Tasmania, Fruit Growers Tasmania and Dairy Tasmania, the pre-farm employment induction program is designed to assist farm employers and employees identify and manage workplace health and safety risks, and provide essential awareness and understanding of WH&S procedures and human resources principles.

There is no cost for Tasmanian farm employers or employees to complete the practical training prior to 30 June 2021. However, a fee will apply to all non-Primary Employers Tasmania members from 1 July 2021.

The AgCard complements the work undertaken by the Safe Farming program and will help to provide a safety culture on Tasmanian farms and also improve the well-being of Tasmanian farmers.
