Quantifying On-farm and Processing Food Losses Survey Project survey now open

​​The Tasmanian Food Cluster would greatly appreciate your assistance with their  Quantifying On-farm and Processing Food Losses Survey Project​.

Following on from the Food Innovation Hub Tasmania forum in July 2019, the Tasmanian Food Cluster was formed.  The Cluster has taken carriage of ensuring the priorities identified at the forum are progressed. 

Industry participants at the July forum wanted to see action taken to quantify the extent of on-farm and processing losses in Tasmania, with priority given to fruits and vegetables. 

What will we do?
  • The project is using a survey tool already tested by CSIRO and reviewed by local industry and researchers in Tasmania.
  • Data will be collected either via an online survey or participants can opt to conduct the survey by phone.
  • The aggregated data and analysis will be released in the first quarter of 2020.
How can we all benefit from this research?
This research aims to support the scoping and development of flexible processing facilities that can accommodate volumes of fruit and vegetables that are currently unsaleable.
