Supermarkets say they are struggling to meet demand for cottage cheese as the product booms in popularity online.
Bulla chief executive Allan Hood said sales of cottage cheese were going backwards five years ago, but that was not the case now thanks to a TikTok trend.
As cottage cheese went viral on social media in the US, Bulla decided to put their own spin on it by recruiting a dairy farmer from Colac, in south-west Victoria.
"We ran a small campaign using Margaret as our chief cottage cheese officer," Mr Hood said.
"She was just really showcasing, you know, as an older demographic, what you can do with cottage cheese … and it just took off."
