Better food policy in Asia

The transformation from a principally poor and agrarian economy into a rich industrial based economy is arguably the only sustainable path out of poverty.

So do emerging economies such as those in Asia need to rethink their agricultural policy?

Peter Timmer discusses the processes that drive modernity and how they can impact on not only what is grown and exported but also on whatis eaten throughout Asia.

So does this mean growing less rice and more vegetables and if it does would there be health implications as well as economic ones?
