A new DPIPWE fact sheet on reporting a suspect case
of a plant pest or disease has been published.
The key message is that, in most cases, people should NOT
take a sample of an affected plant and send it to DPIPWE, as that risks
spreading the problem. Instead, people should leave the affected plants in situ
and contact DPIPWE promptly with details.
The fact sheet includes a list of the sort of information that could be
provided. It is avaiable on the DPIPWE website.
The fact sheet also stresses that people cannot be experts in
identifying bugs, fungi, spores etc. DPIPWE have experts
on staff. If in doubt, report anyway!
