Tasmanian onion and seed potato farmers can look forward to better access to key export markets thanks to new Australian Government grants.
Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources David Littleproud said funding secured through the Package Assisting Small Exporters will boost access to the European, Asian and Indonesian markets.
“Our farmers produce some of the best fruit and vegetables in the world and I want to boost our smaller exporters’ bank balance by increasing their access key markets,” Minister Littleproud said.
“We have delivered $125,000 to the Horticultural Export Group Tasmania, which includes $50,000 to support market access for Tasmanian seed potatoes into the Indonesian market through demonstrating Tasmania’s produce is free of biosecurity risks.
$75,000 will be allocated to a study the onion industry can use in forward planning and market negotiations to boost access to the European and Asian markets.”
