Congratulations to beef producer Rebecca Lynd, named the 2017 Tasmanian Rural Woman of the Year.
Rebecca is the co-owner and operator of Big River Highland Beef in the Derwent Valley, producing Scottish Highland beef for local restaurants and consumers.
The prize of a US study tour will enable Rebecca to gain an understanding of the contemporary issues and practices associated with small-scale, independently owned and /or community supported processing facilities.
As the State winner, Rebecca will represent Tasmania in the national selections for the Australian Rural Women’s Award later in the year.
The State Government recognises the vital contribution women make to Tasmania’s rural industries, agribusiness and rural communities, and is proud to support the awards as a major sponsor.
